In preparation for the AA International coming to Atlanta in 2015, this workshop was built on the same format including how the speakers were selected.
The Roundup is held in Area 16 District 14. The DCM's from all four Zones in District 14 were asked to recommend a speaker on the topic. This is similar to how speakers are selected for the International. As it says in the 11th Tradition in long form, "We prefer to have our friends recommend us." As none of the DCM's had suggested a female, the chair asked the DCM from 14D to speak in place of her original choice.
