(#1890) Jim H (Oneonta, AL)
7/16-19/1987 in Atlanta, GA  EVENT: 12th Atlanta Roundup  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

Sober 31 years since 12/8/1955, Jim came to his first meeting in March of 1955 as the youngest member in the Birmingham area.

In November of 1955, he went out to get him a "slip" - he deserved one. It became eight or ten quarts of liquor.

He likes to talk about "what happened" because we all pretty well know "what it was like".

What happened was great.

He was raised in Princeton, AL - population 213 with six big churches.

Growing up, Jim's dad told him

"If you cry a lot you won't have to pee so much."

NOTE: At the time of this recording, Jim actually lived in Lake Highland, AL, population 213 - "when we're all at home", but got his mail in Oneonta.

Jim spoke to the Georgia State Assembly at 12 years sober in 1968:
