(#371) Frank R (Fayetteville, GA)
1985 in Douglasville, GA  EVENT: NOW Club Speaker Meeting  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

When I asked another past delegate of Area 16 about Frank he replied in part:

"He was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about the time he was delegate (1984-85). I was DCM when he was delegate and became good friends with him. He did some regional speaking and always closed with the same reading. He used a cane in the 80's and part of the 90's then a walker and finally a wheelchair.

We always paid for him to stay at the Atlanta Round-Up--he had a great smile. Toni C. and I spoke at his funeral. Joe S. was his caretaker when Frankie became bound to that chair and he knows more details about dates than anyone.

Frankie was a good man and a good friend to me--he was the one who suggested I stand for delegate almost 20 years after I was DCM and was very happy when I was elected.

When Frankie couldn't eat without a feeding tube, he decided it was time to go. He didn't want to stay if he couldn't go to AA meetings. I saw him two days before he left. He was still full of Joy. I never saw anything except gratitude in Frankie!"

...Nuff said. Enjoy this recording.

Toni C. has also passed. Her recording can be found on WeJoy:
