Sober 33 years since 4/1/1988, Allen grew up in Texas hating everyone. He later found out that was all fear based.
In New York City he worked his way down from a five-star chef to a bill collector for a drug dealer.
He reached his low point sitting by a bridge debating whether to end it all.
There he asked God for help and in his journey through treatment, when his habit was to run, something made him stay and begin to adopt the Steps as his design for living.
He recently lost his wife of many years in recovery.
The Fellowship, Steps and the God of his understanding were there for him.
I met Allen early in my recovery and his gentle spirit helped guide me in those early days.
