(#956) Allen C (Kennesaw, GA)
10/6/2007 in Woodstock, GA  EVENT: Breakfast Club Monthly Speaker  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

Sober 19 years since 4/1/1988, Allen was born in Texas to a church going family. He got many odd conceptions of God which he rejected.

He was a miserable kid spending as much time alone as he could. He could have been the guy on top of the school shooting people. The first time he drank he became OK and so did the others. That was not to happen again, but he pursued that for years.

He was in the Navy for a year and one half but talked himself out. Cooking at the family restaurant since age 12, he became a chef with some talent in Manhattan. That business allowed him to drink.

He also became a person who ran with a bad crowd, collected money for a cocaine dealer and had little concern for what he was doing to others.

He lost his soul. It got so bad, he got on a bus to St. Christophers Inn, a homeless men's shelter in Graymore, NY. There he got sober.

It took him a long time to get right again morally...to get his soul back.
