Sober 21 years, Vince came out of the Longbeach city jail to attend his first meeting November 1965. He did not attend to find serenity or to stay sober the rest of his life. AA was a place he could rest and not get arrested.
Vince takes special effort to speak to the newcomer.
He tells them he knows some things about them: their attitude is poor, they do not want to be there and they think their case is different...or at least that is the way he felt when he first came to AA.
He is insightful, funny and no longer with us, being one of the members Sandy B. was remembering in 2011 - one of those who touched his life in a special way and died sober.
