Sober 28 years since 5/26/1975, Steve says his definition of alcoholism is,
"I can't live with alcohol and I can't live without alcohol."
A fellow told him when he moved to North Carolina in 1989 that there is no reason to ever be lonely in AA here unless you talk past five minutes after nine on a Saturday night.
He got sober in a group that had a Traditions meeting every Saturday night.
"The Traditions are alive and electric and profound and relevant and they have tremendous application to my personal life."
