Sober 5 years since 1/1/1986, Shirley grew up in Nebraska where she went from a household with an alcoholic mother where she was physically and sexually abused and then was removed, to her grandparents where she was given everything she needed.
After her grandfather died, she went back to live with her mother who introduced her to alcohol.
She got married, stopped drinking for 13 years after her third of eight children was born.
She joined a strict church and looked happy on the outside but on the inside she was miserable.
