Sober 11 years since 9/19/1984, Sherry says the most significant part of her story is that she came from an alcoholic home.
Her dad was alcoholic, sometimes very violent and almost always emotionally abusive.
He still drinks, is sometimes violent and is not a part of her life.
"I know today that he was probably badly abused when he was growing up. That hasn't quite made it OK for me but it's made it a little more livable."
