(#2754) Sharon B (Buford, GA)
9/17/2004 in Macon, GA  EVENT: Georgia Al-Anon Assembly  TYPE: Al-Anon, Female, Story

Over 20 years in Al-Anon, Sharon is a past Georgia Al-Anon Delegate speaking at a Service Assembly.

The first emotion she remembers was not fear but guilt.

"I was overly responsible."

There were several unhealthy relationships that shaped her life from early on.

She met Larry, her husband of 25 years in a bar because that is where she socialized.

She came into the program through a suggestion of her divorce lawyer.

Larry was still drinking while Sharon was getting more and more involved in service for fun and for free.

Also, she was beginning to heal the broken family relations and stopped being angry with her family.

She found out that her service sponsor had a childhood experience almost identical to hers.

An spawned an understanding and revelation about her mother and a great healing

By the way, her husband had 19 years of sobriety at the time of this talk.
