Sober 31 years since 12/7/1964, Sandy was a mentor to many including me.
He helped me when, in the audience at his talk at Woodstock of the South in 2009, I heard him talk on Step 10 from the Twelve and Twelve.
My mother's cancer had returned, and he shared about, "whenever we are disturbed there is something wrong with us".
I decided then not to plan my grief, which allowed me to be fully with my mother in the last six months of her life.
She showed me how to live, then showed me how to die - with dignity and grace and a smile on her face.
Miss ya' Mom. Miss ya' Sandy!
