(#4303) Rush J (Peachtree Corners, GA)
7/28/2022 in Atlanta, GA  EVENT: 45th Atlanta Roundup  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

Sober 13 years since 9/8/2008, Rush got sober young. At his first meeting he thought his life was over. But it became so much more.

Born in Birmingham AL in an alcoholic home. His dad got sober when Rush was 5. His mother, a county probation officer, became an alcoholic later. His parents divorced and later got back together.

His brother got saved and got the positive attention. Rush went for the negative attention starting at age 6, going to his first mental institution at age 12.

"My sole mission was to get out of right here right now."

His father helped him get into AA after multiple jail and treatment experiences.

What follows is a great 9th Step, dysfunctional relationship, dishonesty, sobriety losing its priority and back out after 4 years against his will without having decided to do it. His last arrest was welcomed relief.
