(#1690) Robert B (Atlanta, GA)
3/26/2017 in Rock Eagle, GA  EVENT: 71st Atlanta Men's Workshop  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

Sober 15 years since 4/10/2001, this is a special talk for me as Robert and I went to a private school in Atlanta from 5th to 12th grade.

I do not recall where we partied much together but he was always kind to me.

He is a solid member of AA, very active in service on many levels in the Atlanta AA community.

AA showed up when he needed them most - the day of his 15 year old son's suicide. Robert said,

"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times."

I think it worth noting the rest of Dickens' famous opening to A Tale of Two Cities,

"... it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair."

How this calamity was turned to a new level of service to others is touching and hope inspiring.

Thank you my friend.
