Peggy was born very pre-mature and spent much of her young life in bed. Her mother did everything for her.
She married a man her mother approved of who was lots of fun but he drank and, after the wedding, he would beat her up - very controlling in every way.
They had five children in seven years. She could never please him. She could not let anyone know what was going on because of what they might think of her.
She stayed busy so she would not have to think about what was going on because she assumed there was something wrong with her.
