Michael, "a female alcoholic" as she always says at the start of her talk, has over 22 years sober. She was raised by an alcoholic mother. From a very early age, Michael raised her younger sister because her mother was not at home to take care of them. They lived wherever they could even in abandoned cars. Michael swore she would never drink like her mother.
Married at 15 to an abusive alcoholic, pregnant at 17, mother at 18, she was out on the streets fending for herself anyway she could but not drinking. She picked up a drink around age 26 and drank every day until she was in her early 30's. Naked, in a dark apartment, she got on her knees and ask God to get her sober - she did not care how.
Michael recounts numerous tragic experiences before, during and after getting sober in AA. She also recounts several overpowering spiritual awakenings at different levels at all three times as well.
Truly inspiring talk. Thanks again, Michael. Job well done.
