Sober 14 years but physically sick with a bug at the time of this talk, he had many reasons when he came into AA why he was an alcoholic but allergic to alcohol was not one of them. If that was all, then he could just quit drinking but he is also crazy.
Son of a Southern Baptist minister who physically abused his children, he grew up in a number of towns and churches. Matt gave himself to Jesus at age five and loves God today.
At age 14 he and his mother left his father after Matt received a brutal beating. That day he also renounced God.
He chose a self-centered life with alcohol, many towns, distorted and ruined relationships. From 1993 to 1996 he stayed sober on service alone because he hated God. He drank again. From 1996 to 1998 it got "worser" until he came into the rooms of AA to stay 8/17/1998.
