AAI65: A.A.s First Women Alcoholics

Author of the Big Book story "Women Suffer, Too", based on my research, Marty was introduced to AA in 1939 via the manuscript of the book Alcoholics Anonymous prior to its full publication.

She got long term sobriety in 1940 with a possible relapse after 20 years.

She is speaking here on Friday night at the Big Meeting before Bill and Lois W.

She was the founder of the "National Committee for Education on Alcoholism" (NCEA) in 1944.

She authored three books on the subject including one I have a copy of, "Marty Mann's New Primer on Alcoholism" first published in 1958 as an update to her 1950 book, "Primer on Alcoholism".
