(#246) Martha W (Houston, TX)2/14/1987 in Albuquerque, NM EVENT: 23rd International Women's Conference (IAAWC) TYPE: AA, Female, Story
Sober since 12/31/1973, she said, "It was a lot of work to screw up my life enough to get here." Her father was a hard drinking, hard on the outside - soft on the inside, alcoholic. She nearly died trying to be like him - a tornado roaring through the lives of others. She came in as healthy as a horse except for her feet - she broke every bone in her feet - some several times. She finished her drinking career chasing pills with scotch, looking for her car. She took the 1st step in jail after an accident. She has not had a bad day in sobriety because all days look good compared to that day in jail. She shares a great deal about her journey through the steps for the last half of her talk.(53 min) (18.5 MB) (id#246)
