Sober 23 years since 5/17/1992, Kent's mother was the highest ranked women at GM. He says she was recognized by all who knew her as a remarkable person.
So Kent was not raised without a model of how to live life successfully.
He wound up on the streets anyway.
Kent came into AA with a group that had some members who were sponsored by the first 100 members, got sober between 1944 and 1946 and knew Dr. Bob and Anne S. His home group was an Oxford Group in 1938 that became an AA Group in 1942.
He saw there were two groups in AA, those who hung around AA and those who had a sponsor, a home group, lived the steps and carried the message into jails and institutions. He noticed group two was doing better than group one.
