Sober 28 years since April 1993, Kathy is from Schenectady, NY, the home of General Electric.
Her father was transferred to the Roanoke, VA area when Kathy was 15.
Her mother was first generation Polish, and her father was black Irish.
They were just starting to desegregate the schools and public places when she moved to Virginia.
She is speaking on her 80th birthday.
"I never would have made it to 80 without Alcoholics Anonymous."
