Sober 50 years since 4/9/1959, John was long involved with the Atlanta Roundup before he moved to Hilton Head.
He came into AA at 24 years old. He was 74 years old at the time of this talk.
John grew up in Scanton, PA, a coal mining town, in a very functional family. He started drinking at age 15. It was his first spiritual experience.
He joined the Marines in 1952 serving as a sniper in Korea. He took to the order and discipline of the Corps.
John died sober of cancer around the time of the AA International in Atlanta in 2015.
He was married to Mary Emma H. at the time of his death.
