Sober 20 years since 3/10/1997, Joette was the Thursday night speaker.
"From the very beginning, my younger sister and I came from a lot of neglect. I was six and she was four when our mom left us alone to go to work at night. I don't remember a time when she woke up before two or three in the afternoon."
By the time Joette was 14, she was fighting back with her mom and drinking daily at high school.
She flunked out of college and joined the Air Force but was thrown out.
She was 19, could not finish anything and could barely start anything.
What AA has enabled her to become is an example to others living now in hopelessness.
