Jim is sober 10 years since 8/1/2007. He has a great story about Bloody Marys and sun poisoning as well as strong sponsorship.
But he also tells the story of how the attendees at the AA International in Atlanta in 2015 got surprised at the Sunday Big Meeting at the Georgia Dome when Jason S, an inmate at a Georgia correctional facility, was introduced as the second speaker.
The fans went crazy.
Jim discloses how this came to pass and was kept secret.
I have known Jim for some years as the Corrections Chair for Area 16 and I was there in the Dome when Jason spoke.
I had been taking meetings into local jails for ten years at the time.
This is the first time at any event I have ever heard, that an inmate was let out briefly just to speak to the group.
I have heard of it happening second hand but never seen it in person.
