Grew up in Manchester, GA, His father was a dentist and an alcoholic. By 10 to 12 years old the alcohol came to be a problem. Jim knew he had some problems with his expectations, attitude and thinking in general early. The last prayer he would say today is "God, give me what I deserve." He loved his dad but did not respect him. His dad got sober just before Jim's graduation from High School, stayed sober for five years before being killed in a car crash. His dad remarried sober to, Lillian, long time "secretary" to AA in Georgia (Area 16).
