(#1828) Jessica D (Baltimore, MD)
9/21/2006 in Myrtle Beach, SC  EVENT: 35th Fellowship by the Sea  TYPE: AA, Female, Story

Sober 5 years 11/14/2000, her disease, in the end, took her outside a crack house in the North Philadelphia ghetto.

"To be standing here today amongst you, with love in my heart and a conviction that God, God is here, God is working and has entered my life and I am not that girl anymore. That says something about Alcoholics Anonymous."

She grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania. Her father died before she was born of a drug overdose. Her mom quickly found a violent, alcoholic boyfriend who raised Jessica until she was 14. This taught her that bad things happened.

Short, fat and flat, she was plagued with a fear of "what you thought of me". Then she found 151 rum and the people who sought that out.

Then she found a guy she obsessively stalked for eight years.
