A powerful story. Born in 1955 and sober since 2010, Jami was raised in Austell, GA by an alcoholic mom and dad. She was isolated at school and escaped by reading books. She always drank alcoholically but hooked up with the drug crowd as well because she did not want to be like her parents.
In the mid-80s, Jami shot and killed her ex-husband. She was sentenced and served 4 years. She was unable to get or stay sober in the rooms of AA after she got out. Finally, in jail for the 3rd DUI in a single year she heard the inmates in her pod talking about using when they got out. She went to her cell, got on her knees and became willing to do whatever it took to get sober.
She came back into AA and became a part of the program at last. What has happened since bears witness to a Loving Power greater than her.
