Sober 21 years since 7/11/1981, James is an enthusiastic member of AA. He reflects on the members who passed in 2002 and others that are in service to AA for many years.
His father was a travelling salesman and James went to 15 schools growing up. His parents argued frequently because God did not answer James's prayers to help them stop. James was a short fat kid, the only Protestant in a Catholic school, but with a quick wit able to make straight A's.
Then he found alcohol.
A lawyer by trade since 1968, he says there are no lawyer jokes, they are all true stories. Once out of law school he had money finally to drink though his grades were either A's or F's due to drinking and using. With that record it was hard to get a job.
