(#877) Judge Jack C (Hagerstown, MD)
8/16/2008 in Cartersville, GA  EVENT: 31st Allatoona Roundup  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

Sober 26 years since 4/7/1982 and married 42 years, Jack was a Maryland state senator from 1974-76 and a Judge from 1977 to 1993.

Jack's drinking took him to the point where most of his organs were shutting down. The surgeons convinced him to quit drinking for a year. He spent the worst time in his life not drinking and not changing.

Jack's dad died with 15 years in the program. Jack was 12 stepped by two members of AA who came to his office and asked him to read the Big Book to understand his dad's illness better. Jack found himself in that book and started his life in AA with his two friends coming to his office at noon once a week.

On 12/22/1989, while he was in the Program, Judge Jack was a victim of a pipe bomb sent to him in the mail.

He died Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at age 70.
