In Al-Anon 22 years since 2004, Hal was the only child of non-drinking parents who came from fairly dysfunctional families.
But he found he had a passion for alcoholic women.
He met his wife at a bar in Atlanta and they had many fun years together until alcoholism began to control their lives.
He was told by his wife's treatment counselor that he was the most controlling person she ever met and that he had to get a male Al-Anon sponsor before his wife would be recommended to return home.
Now they share recovery and life is better than he ever thought it could be.
