George had come to this event since the 2nd one in 1967 and reflects on those who were here when he came but were no longer.
His mother was a fine Christian woman and his father was an alcoholic golfer. George's mother always considered her husband a sick person rather than a bad person.
George started drinking at age 13. Before then he did everything right but all that immediately changed. He realized suddenly that his father was right.
George did not slip across the line but jumped into alcoholism.
