Sober 35 years, Dick is an attorney who's fear of being drunk for a future trial helped encourage him to try AA for real. Dick loves the humorous side of life but also has experienced the "certain trials and low spots". His oldest son had severe learning disabilities and later died. Another son is a childhood cancer survivor who married a fellow survivor. Dick is himself a cancer survivor. Through it all he laughed and hurt, didn't drink and went to meetings. He also describes how he used his profession to help others in unexpected ways. I have other stories of Dick's working behind the scenes not recorded here that prove to me he is more than just a bag of hot air...he is an often kind and considerate bag of hot air (with a warm and generous heart) who does many things to help AA members find long term recovery.
