WOW! An unexpected treat to record Diane twice in one week. She said before this talk, there were things she left out of the first talk. This talk is much more than filling in some gaps.
Sober 29 years since 3/28/1988, current Co-Chair of the Communications Committee and Past Treasurer 2015 through 2016 of AA Area 16 (Georgia), Diane is one of our delightfully "twisted" AA servants.
She is a survivor of a rare genetic skin disorder called EB (epidermolysis bullosa) that generally claims the lives of those afflicted by age two.
Her struggles with being painfully unique, seriously flawed relationships, addiction to prescription drugs, using vodka to get off those and then becoming an alcoholic, all led her to the rooms of AA and, after one useful nine month relapse, to long term sobriety.
After two years and some spiritual pain, she finally came to terms with a God she could again have faith in.
In sobriety, she went on to get her CPA license and have a very successful career.
"But none of that matters. What matters is the fact that God gave me some gifts, he gave me some challenges, mind you, but he gave me some gifts and it's my responsibility to use those God given gifts to help further AA and insure that it is here for the suffering alcoholic in the future."
