Sober since 1/27/1987, later Area 16 (GA) Delegate, David is speaking here as DCM for District 5C at age 41. Born and raised in Savannah. He came from a family that might be the poster child for the anti-Leave-It-To-Beaver campaign. But that is not the reason he is an alcoholic. He started drinking by age 13. By the time he was 17 he had lots of problem at home. He had problems with authority figures and having potential if he only applied himself. He left home at 16 but could not make it and came back home again but could not do that either. So he joined the Air Force at 17. At 19 he met his wife Lucille - over 30 and married. - the rocks in her head fit the holes in his. Getting David sober became Lucille's job. The idea of suicide became a regular thought in the last year of drinking. He came into AA in San Antonio TX after telling his commander he thought he had an alcohol problem - not because he believed it - but to get the heat off. It was a dual speaker meeting and he identified.
