(#4755) Cleve L (Waurika, OK)
7/19/1985 in Atlanta, GA  EVENT: 10th Atlanta Roundup  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

This recording starts with a short talk by John F of Atlanta introduced by Bill R of Lawrenceville, GA.

John, sober since 1952, was one of the early black members of AA in Atlanta.

Bill died in 2013 with 55 years sober and was very active in AA up to his death.

Sober 20 years since 5/26/1965, the main speaker, Cleve, was a state trial judge who is the only judge in the state to be locked up 17 times.

In his youth he was shot down piloting an unarmed cargo plane behind enemy lines in WWII in Italy.

He got back home after the war, got his law degree, was a judge, then DA, and then started drinking with a purpose.

"Alcoholics Anonymous is a brotherhood of the second chance."

Funny story with a powerful ending.
