Sober 13 years since January 1946, this is one of the earliest recordings I have of Chuck.
Famous for his Men's Retreat that was transcribed into the book A New Pair of Glasses, he was a mentor to many, including Bill W. the co-founder of AA.
He was about to leave his 1st meeting because the people there looked too good to be drunks until one assured him:
"Take of your hat and coat, you're in the right place."
He believed that,
"We come into AA by the Grace of a Loving God, but we stay here by practicing the Twelve Steps."
NOTE: This talk has been in the collection since 2005 but only available online since August 2025.
