Sober 14 years since 8/7/2001 and a member of the Mt. Vernon Group, Christian is very active in carrying the AA message in the Atlanta Area. He is a lover of AA history and a student of the Big Book.
He met his wife in AA and they actually courted long distance and were married in her dad's church in South Carolina. She was the first women he had a relationship with that was healthy and did not need "fixing".
Their son was born with an inability to digest food. His wife called from the hospital to say come right away, they have to perform emergency surgery. He did not want to pray for God's Will to be done. He just wanted his namesake to survive healthy regardless of God's Will. His sponsor told him to pray for the willingness to accept God's Will and they would pray the other part for him.
It was many hours after surgery before their son could eat. He recalls how hard it was to be there with his son crying for food in the recovery room. Christian made it through and his son became the fully recovered "Buddha Baby".
