(#742) Chase S (Marietta, GA)
8/16/2015 in Cartersville, GA  EVENT: 38th Allatoona Roundup  TYPE: AA, Male, Story

Insightful and touching story: A young member of AA, Chase is sober 10 years since 5/4/2005. His sponsor once said, "...the longer we stay sober, our past becomes more of a story than a memory." He is a completely different person than when he came in

Chase was born in Atlanta and grew up in Marietta. His dad was alcoholic. His parents divorced when he was very young. His artist mother remaned a single mom raising Chase and his younger brother. An aunt and grandparents died from the disease. He saw therapists from an early age. Chase became an alcoholic even with all that knowledge of the harms caused and, in turn, caused his mom many hours of grief.

Chase got sober at a treatment center in Montana. He is employed in the recovery community working for that treatment facility but still living in Georgia. He is able to be present for his dad now that he is very ill from the disease. His mom became an alcoholic as well. She was in the room listening to this talk with almost two years of sobriety.

Chase currently is the PI/CPC Chair for Area 16.
