(#1094) Bobbie C (Tallahassee, FL)
5/2/2014 in Marietta, GA  EVENT: 24th Marietta Roundup  TYPE: AA, Female, Story

Sober 15 years since 12/15/1998, Bobbie is a strong presenter who had a tough childhood and life she has come to accept as her story.

Raised with 9 kids and her parents, she was a peculiar child who hated being disciplined.

Her mother was 14 years old when Bobbie was born. Her "Dad" was the one who picked her pregnant Mom up on the church steps and eventually married her. She was a heavy drinker and promiscuous and Bobbie swore she would never be like her mom.

Her mother left home when Bobbie was 8 years old. Her Dad remarried against Bobbie's will and Bobbie started drinking and doing all the things her mother did.

At 12 years old her dad forced her to have sex with him. She felt dirty.

She became a "Happy Hooker" devotee to deal with the shame. She setup a house of prostitution in a nice all white neighborhood in Indiana. Every judge in town was a client until the last one. She did all this to become independent of men.

She quit the business and moved to New York to become a nanny.

From madam to nanny and she did not like children but the husband was having an affair with her.

Later, she got a good job with AT&T but self will and alcohol robbed her of it and many other good things.

As a result, she went to AA the first time in 1971 at 27 years old with a bunch of old white women. She compared rather than identified for 27 years in and out of AA all over the country until at age 56 she got a DUI in Atlanta.

That was her last drink. How she recovered is delightful and insightful.
