Sober 14 years since 9/17/1983, Bob was sponsored at the time by Sterling W, one of the great characters and givers of AA.
Bob grew up in a small town, in a small house without a father in Manning, SC. He felt less than.
He went to college for three years as a freshman because he was looking for her. They were married over 20 years. They had the cars, the house and the kids but he still wasn't happy.
He became a daily drinker of vodka and Gatorade. He did not want to come home. He never respected the institution of marriage. He became a liar, a cheat and a thief.
He used to tell a story at bars he was a professional football player to get attention. He told it often in many places.
He used to beg his mother for money he knew she could not afford and use it to drink to cover up his guilt.
Then he would call the wife and beg for one more chance. Before long he was calling mother again.
He left her bedside to drink while his mother was dying. He left that family and hooked up with another alcoholic. That went on for 2 or 3 years.
