Sober since 1/3/1995, Ann was born in Las Vegas. She came from an alcoholic family. Her mom got married "a bunch of times" and had seven kids from five different fathers - like a little United Nations. Her dad got sober when she was a baby, drank again but was sober the last seven years of his life.
Her mom went insane and died when Ann was 17. She could not see why adults drank the way they did. Ann stayed to herself with few friends and bailed out by getting married at 18 to a man in the army. She started dressing up and drinking to fit in.
She dropped out of high school to take care of her orphaned sisters. But she wasn't going to drink like her mother. She moved to Hawaii and had her own Salon. She eventually lost that and came into AA on the Islands.
