A non-alcoholic and longtime Class-A Trustee on the AA General Service Board, Bernard died on July 31st 1970, in his home, of a heart attack 27 days after this talk.
Box 459 in an October obituary said:
"Bern joined the General Service Board in 1944, served as its chairman and chairman of the General Service Conference from 1951 to 1956 and was Board vice chairman until his death."
