A unique question and answer format, Arbutus unwillingly attended her first meeting in Amarillo, TX in 1948 as an obligation to a friend. She is a Texan by marriage but a hillbilly by birth. Her father was a hallucinating drunk but her husband Bill was a life of the party drunk. Bill died in 1999 short of their 60th Anniversary. Being in the program did not protect two of their kids who both have long term sobriety in the program. She is a well respected member of Al-anon who is still coming to terms with not being a WE anymore.
