(#151) Linda S (Waycross, GA)
5/4-6/2001 in Marietta, GA  EVENT: 11th Marietta Roundup  TYPE: Al-Anon, Female, Story

Truly a Grateful Al-Anon for 17 years since June 1984. Her first husband came into AA in 1984 and she came back to Al-Anon shortly after. He did not make it to 90 and 90. He started drinking and threatening her. She finally left him but stayed in Al-Anon. Met a man in AA and got a divorce in part to be with him. He decided he do not want her after the divorce was final. Her sponsor told her, "Not all the people in AA got it together."

Met and married another man in AA who was older with two children - her knight in shining armor - the love of her life. Lost two pregnancies and her world fell apart - she got angry with God. Did two things right - went to meetings and called her sponsor. In July 1996 her 2nd husband was diagnosed and died of cancer. Linda was diagnosed and survived breast cancer in 1997. Her 1st husband died of the alcoholism and she grieved for him. (Hear more about Linda's story at her 1998 talk in Myrtle Beach, SC)
