(#1066) Peggy M (Bellevue, NE)
4/16/2006 in San Diego, CA  EVENT: San Diego Spring Roundup  TYPE: AA, Female, Story

Sober 42 years since 2/4/1964, Peggy is speaking on Easter Sunday. She shares a great deal about caring for her mother with Alzheimer's. Interesting, especially as she is not giving by nature.

This is classic Peggy. Funny, powerful, and in rare form. She sponsors legions of women many of whom are in the audience.

Her dad was in the military and later in the diplomatic service. He and her mom were loving and structured but Peggy was a rule breaker, and a little fighter - particularly with big men. She went to school in Europe and learned to drink in several languages.

In the end she was living upstairs in her parents' home in Washington, DC, drinking a quart on Popov vodka a day.

How she got from there to here, while still not being too tightly wound, is a great AA story.
