Max is a long term member of Al-Anon and married to Dr. Paul O., author of the Big Book story "Acceptance was the Answer" in the 4th edition (renamed from "Doctor, Alcoholic, Addict" in the 3rd edition).
Dr. Paul is legendary but Max is a solid though reluctant speaker in her own right.
What she put up with from him is in itself the stuff of legends.
