Sober 5 years since 8/18/2012, Jon grew up in an alcohol free immediate family but there were alcoholic members of his extended family they did not talk about. His father, a deacon, never missed Sunday school.
Jon gleaned from reading the bible there are three kinds of people: puzzle smart, knowledgeable and wise. He wanted wisdom and now realizes that is a dangerous thing to ask for.
Jon started drinking at age 12. He became a caregiver for his mother who died of ALS when he was in high school. He was able to quit for a time.
He came into AA in order to save his job though he went back out at a very inappropriate moment.
He is now, active in AA service and passionate about the Program.
